Index of Speeches

This index of the speeches given to The Empire Club of Canada has been prepared to help interested readers gain access to the wealth of material that is available. The index provides a convenient search capability identifying what speeches are available. Copies of the speeches from the printed book can be purchased from The Empire Club of Canada and are also available in yearbooks in public and educational libraries across Canada.

Searching the Index

Filling fields restricts the search results to items matching terms exactly as entered. You do not need to fill in all fields; multiple entries are treated as "AND", limiting results to those containing all entered terms. "Topic" and "Year" should be selected from the drop-down list. Phrases in the Keyword field must be in entered with quotation marks.[Detailed instructions]

Over the last few years, the speeches published in the Empire Club Addresses have been digitized. The pages of each volume up to have been scanned and processed through an optical character recognition (OCR) program. The Empire Club Foundation has underwritten this project and offers the full text of the speeches free of charge to individuals. Once you have searched for a particular speech, you may click on the "Full Text" link to view the entire speech. Please note that at the moment, the speeches have not all been fully proofread and corrected. The OCR process can make mistakes. For instance, 120,000 may be interpreted as 120,ooo. The letter "I" may be interpreted as the number "1". It takes some time to ensure that these errors are corrected. However, because of the demand for the full text of these speeches, and the fragility of older volumes, particularly when being copied, the Empire Club of Canada and the Empire Club of Canada Foundation Executive have decided to make the full text available now. PLEASE READ THE STATEMENT BELOW BEFORE SEARCHING THE INDEX.

Neither the speeches themselves nor any part of their content may be used for any purpose other than personal interest or research without the explicit permission of the Empire Club of Canada.
